Wedding Timeline Examples

Here are two wedding timeline examples: One with a first look, and the other without.

WITH FIRST LOOK

 

Preparation

Looking for tips to make sure your getting ready photographs look incredible? Check out this post.

 

9:30 AM (2-3 hours):

Hair and makeup begin. Hair and makeup typically takes 2-3 hours to complete.

12:00 PM—12:45 PM (45 minutes):

Photographer arrives and begins with detail photographs.

12:45 PM—1:45PM (1 hour):

Bride and Groom getting ready photographs.

Formal Portraits

2:00 PM—3:30 PM (1 hour and 30 minutes):

First look & bridal party (sometimes we can fit immediate family in as well).

3:30 PM—4:15 PM (45 minutes):

Bride and groom portraits.

4:30 PM—5:00 PM (30 minutes):

Bride & groom freshen up for the ceremony.

NYC Wedding

Ceremony + Family

Looking to plan the most photogenic wedding ceremony possible? Here are my top 5 tips.

 

5:00 PM—5:30 PM (30 minutes):

Wedding Ceremony (may need an additional half hour for receiving line).

5:45 PM—6:15 PM (45 minutes):

Family Formals (may need more time for extended family).

6:15 PM—6:30 PM (15 minutes):

Additional portraits / sunset photographs.

Turks and Caicos Destination Wedding

Reception

6:00 PM—7:00 PM (1 hour):

Cocktail hour (would need a second photographer if you’d like to capture your cocktail hour).

7:15 PM—9:00 PM (2 hours):

Bridal party grand entrance, and party time!

9:00 PM:

 Photographer leaves after formalities conclude.

The hours listed in these sample timelines are approximate and can vary greatly from wedding to wedding, but this should give you an idea of the general amount of time each activity takes and the sequence of events.

Also, these times assume that the entire wedding (getting ready, ceremony, photos, and reception) will be taking place at one location, so travel time is not included.
