The best part about a Battery Gardens Wedding—pedestrians can stop and watch you declare your love!
Dane’s brother showed so much love during his speech.
Dane & Carolyn’s Battery Gardens wedding took place on a warm October afternoon in NYC.
Dane grew up in South Africa and recently came over to the United States, where he met Carolyn, a native New Yorker. Dane’s closest friends and family flew all the way from South Africa. Many of them had never been to the US before!
Dane and Carolyn wanted to take pictures in DUMBO, Brooklyn, in addition to Battery Park. After getting ready at their apartment (which had an amazing view of the Brooklyn Bridge from the roof,) we took the short trip to the bridge. We then headed to the wedding ceremony and reception at the Battery Garden’s Restaurant in the financial district.

After the first look, we decided to do the second from the top of Taft Point, a short hike from the road to Glacier Point. We were treated to one of the most amazing sunsets I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing!
There are few places in the world better suited for an adventure session than Yosemite National Park!
Alexis and I have met years ago when I worked at Apple. When her and Reuben told me they were living in San Jose (only a few hours from Yosemite) and soon to be married, I knew we were going to create some amazing photographs together!
Yosemite Valley is absolutely breathtaking, but it can get insanely busy during the summer months. To avoid the crowds (and the heat), we decided to capture their Yosemite adventure session in September.
Alexis & Reuben did a few separate looks, with the first focusing on the floor of Yosemite Valley. We made sure to hit up the iconic Tunnel View and the fields and meadows of the Valley before heading to Taft Point for sunset.

Is there a better place in the world to celebrate your love than the beautiful cliffs of Santorini?
Located in Greece, Santorini is one of most recognized locations in the world. With its black sand beaches, amazing food (who doesn’t love Mediterranean food?), and unique architecture, it’s truly a photographer’s dream.
Because of its fame, Santorini is a popular destination location for both weddings and elopements. Oia in particular (the center town on the island) is breathtakingly beautiful. The white washed buildings that overlook the Caldera (did you know that Santorini is an active volcano?) are unlike anything I have ever seen. They are the perfect backdrop for incredible elopement photographs!
In August Heather and I flew to this incredible island where we captured this adventure session with Brian & Shannon. Because Santorini is known for its incredible sunsets, we made sure to find the perfect location to take advantage of it. During the session, we walked from the center of town to a remote cliff overlooking the town.
We ended our session as the sun set behind Oia, creating some of my favorite images from our Santorini adventure (and quite possibly that I’ve ever taken!).

I loved styling these beautiful beach-themed details.
These wedding favors were so perfect! Handmade shell ornaments.
The color of the ocean was absolutely stunning! Such a perfect location for the ceremony.
Not a bad spot for your cocktail hour!
Barefoot sandals instead of shoes.
Anna & Frank’s Turks and Caicos destination wedding was held at the Alexandra Resort on the beach of Grace Bay.
It was so nice getting to know everybody while we were there. Because destination weddings generally have a smaller guest count, (Anna & Frank had 35), it’s so much easier to create a unique, intimate experience for everyone.
The intimacy of a destination wedding is something that is often missing from a traditional wedding. Being in one location with your closest family and friends and making a multi day experience out of it is unique—it’s basically a vacation for everybody! Throw in a tropical setting and you can bet your wedding will be one to remember. Not to mention a Turks and Caicos destination wedding is the perfect escape from the December cold!
